Heart Nebula IC 1805

The Heart Nebula IC 1805 is 7,500 light years from Earth and is located in the constellation Cassiopeia. The Heart Nebula is a giant cloud of hydrogen alpha gas that resembles the shape of a heart. Towards the bottom right hand of the image is the Fish Head Nebula. This emission nebula results from radiation from Melotte 15, several super giant stars toward the nebula’s center.
